Define Barrel Elements

The following barrel elements are implemented in SIGMA:

To define a new barrel element, the type of element to be defined must first be selected in the Machine Configuration window under Create new element…, for example a closed barrel.

Editing an already defined element can be performed by double-clicking the element to be edited in the list of machine elements or by using the icon Edit properties of the selected element. In addition, data can now also be modified directly in the Element Properties list by double-clicking the property to be changed and confirming the modified value with Return.

Feeding Barrel

Path: Main menu > Configuration > Configuration editor > New element… > Feeding barrel

In order to define a new feeding barrel, choose Feeding barrel after hitting the New element button in the Machine configuration.

In this mask some characteristic values have to be determined:

Venting Barrel

Path: Main menu > Configuration > Configuration editor > New element… > Venting barrel

The dialog window Venting barrel is quite similar to the one for the feeding barrel. That is why it is not specified in detail at this point.

Standard Barrel and Spacer Plate

Main menu > Configuration > Configuration editor > New element… > Standard barrel

The dialog windows for Standard Barrel and Spacer Plate are completely equal. Standard barrels and spacer plates are closed barrel sections. The only difference is that standard barrels are heated and spacer plates are not.

Both of them are entirely defined by entering the Diameter and the Length of the barrel.

Combined barrel

Path: main menu > configuration > configuration editor > create new element… >combined barrel

The combined barrel connects the characteristics of a degassing- and an addition barrel in only one element.

The dialogue window is only slightly different to the dialogue window of the Dialogfeld of the degassing- and an addition barrels. Because of this, further explanation is not needed.
