Define General Machine Parameters
In the window Machine Configuration, a new machine can be created or an existing machine can be edited. The first icon creates a new machine configuration. If a machine is already open, the existing data are deleted in order to create the new machine. By clicking the second icon, the properties of the currently open machine configuration can be edited. When either of these options is selected, the dialog Edit Machine Data shown below appears.
In the first field (Machine designation), the name of the machine must be entered. In the subsequent fields, information such as direction of rotation, nominal diameter, center distance, etc. must be specified.
The nominal diameter is used as an editable default value in several subsequent input fields. In contrast, the center distance can only be edited in this dialog. This value will appear in other dialogs for defining the geometry of screw and barrel elements, but it cannot be edited there. Length inputs can either be defined as absolute values in millimeters or as multiples of the grid spacing.
In addition, the maximum drive power at the corresponding rotational speed must be defined. This value is compared with the drive power calculated by SIGMA. If the value calculated by SIGMA exceeds the maximum drive power, a warning is issued after the calculation.
