Figure: Machine configuration

The window Machine configuration is part of the Visual machine configuration (see figure). It also opens up when double clicking on the machine name in the project explorer (see figure). Machines can be newly created or edited by using the buttons.

Figure: Dialog box Edit machine data

When creating a new machine the text boxes of the window shown in the figure have to be filled in: First the Name of the machine is to fill in the textbox on top of the mask. In the underlying fields specifications concerning Rotation direction, Nominal diameter, Centerline distance et cetera have to be put in. All length values can be specified as absolute values in millimeters or as multiple of the standard value.

The nominal diameter will be an editable standard value in the following. In contrast, the centerline distance can only be changed in this window. For instance its value is shown in the dialog masks for screw and barrel elements, but it can not be changed there. Furthermore, the Maximum drive power at the respective screw speed is to be edited. SIGMA compares the calculated drive power with this value. If the calculated value for it is greater than the maximal drive power, SIGMA will give a warning after the calculation.
