In order to calculate the pressure loss with a filter the filter area, the mesh size, the amount of elements and different reference parameters have to be indicated. The latter are known from practical tests. These are the decrease in pressure which was measured at a reference mass flow and a reference mass temperature. The reference values as well as the decrease in pressure to be calculated refer to a constant mesh size.
