Installing a HASP SL License
Purpose
This guide describes how to generate a fingerprint on a target computer so that a HASP SL / Sentinel SL rehostable license can be created.
The fingerprint is generated as a C2V file and then sent to the license manufacturer or the internal licensing department. Based on this file, a V2C license file is created, which is later applied on the same computer.
Requirements
- Windows computer on which the license will later be used
- Provided RUS_KTP2025 file: RUS_KTP2025.exe
- Installed Sentinel / HASP Runtime HaspUserSetup.zip
- Write permissions in a local folder, e.g. `C:\Temp`
- No planned changes to hardware, host name, VM configuration, or operating system between fingerprint creation and license installation
Important: The fingerprint must be generated on the computer on which the HASP SL license is later intended to run.
Preparing the File Storage Location
Create a folder for the license files, for example: C:\Temp\HASP_Lizenz
Generating the Fingerprint / C2V File
- Log in to the target computer.
- Start the file `RUS_KTP2025.exe`.
- Switch to the Collect Status Information tab.
- Select the Installation of New Protection Key option at the bottom.
- Click Collect Information.
- Select the prepared storage folder, e.g.: C:\Temp\HASP_Lizenz
- Save the file with a unique name, e.g.: CompanyName_PC123_Fingerprint_2026-06-15.c2v
- After successful creation, the C2V file is located in the selected folder.
Submitting the C2V File
Send the generated `.c2v` file to [info@ktp-software.de](mailto:info@ktp-software.de).
Applying the License File
After processing, you will receive a license file with the following extension: .v2c
To apply the license:
- Save the received license file locally on the target computer.
- Start `RUS_KTP2025.exe` again.
- Switch to the Apply License File tab.
- In the Update File field, select the received `.v2c` or `.v2cp` file.
- Click Apply Update.
- Wait for the success message.
Special Case: Rehosting an Existing SL License
If an existing HASP SL license is to be transferred from a source computer to a target computer, this is not just a normal fingerprint creation process.
In this case, the Transfer License tab is used in the RUS Utility.
The process consists of three steps:
- Generate information about the recipient computer on the target computer.
- Generate the license transfer file on the source computer.
- Apply the transfer file on the target computer.
Warning: After the transfer file has been generated, the SL license is usually no longer available on the source computer. Therefore, rehosting should only be performed when the target computer is ready.
Summary
- Start `RUS_KTP2025.exe`
- Open Collect Status Information
- Select Installation of New Protection Key
- Click Collect Information
- Save the `.c2v` file
- Send the `.c2v` file to the licensing department
- Apply the received `.v2c` file via Apply License File
