Strand cooling
Strand cooling
To determine the cooling length, a SIGMA process must be created and calculated first. The data for the used material is automatically transferred to the cooling calculation. In addition, the calculated temperature at the screw tip is defined as the initial strand temperature for the cooling calculation. Depending on the operator selection, the strand diameter or the number of strands is calculated with the aid of the throughput at the screw tip or at the machine exit. Apart from the transferred data additional data is needed, which must be entered by the SIGMA user. These data with the associated units are:

- Length of cooling $L_Water$ [m]
- Line speed $v$ [m/s]
